Questions you can answer in one sentence

What is it that you find can take your breath away?

You get 100 words, and you can answer more than once if you like.

I'll start: it takes my breath away every afternoon during the work week when I return from work and see my wife for the first time that day. Don't tell her I said that! She might get the big head.

It takes my breath away to consider, as I do often, how amazingly lucky I am to have the life I have, given where I was when I was twenty. Anyone facing an insurmountable challenge needs to be willing to hold fast to the mast and wait for the storm to blow over. It always does. No, not sometimes! It always blows over.

Rick, that is beautiful.
There are moments in my life too that just blow me away with gratitude. One that comes to mind is my family. About 4 years ago, my mom died. We weren't in touch as she gave my brothers and I up when we were young, but I went to MN and attended the funeral. There was a moment in which it was all too much and I retreated to my brother's spare room to lay on the bed and collect my thoughts. About 5 seconds after I closed the door, my sister, her mom, and my sister in law came in and we all sat on the bed and talked and laughed. I thought I wanted to be alone, but apparently I was SO wrong. It was a moment I will always remember.
I am loved, even at times when I don't understand why.
Is that over a 100 words?

I don't know how many words you wrote, Julie, except to say it was exactly the right number.

Thanks so much for this.

What a great question, Rick. And what a beautiful answer for Julia...I don't think she'll get the big head at all!!

I really have to think about this one. Not enough takes my breath away, I've realized.

I know that it takes my breath away each time I look at the ocean.

Each time I smell the air in Hawaii, even after I've been there a while, the air still smells incredible.

When I wake up without a dark cloud of depression pushing on my chest---this still feels amazing each time it happens.

And learning something new about something I've looked at over and over again---that does it too.

Each time I read a comment on my blog that delivers a little package of love and support (many from you, btw), it takes my breath away.

There...what a great question, and great exercise!

Thank you again, Rick,

Love and traveling blessings,

O

O--thanks for your contribution! For someone who says she doesn't have enough which takes her breath away, you delivered a wonderful list.

There will be more questions, popping up unexpectedly. I hope you will stop by and chime in again!

the beautiful faces of my grandchildren...

a beautiful sky at sunrise or sunset, or even when a storm is threatening...

the beautiful mind of my youngest child-- she just blows me away!

standing on the beach...

a mountain view...

autumn trees...

how unbelievably blessed i am with love in my life...

i could probably go on, but i'll stop there. thanks for helping me start a gratitude list today.

Gratitude...what a vital part of creation!
