This being Mother's Day, it only seems appropriate to me that there be some mention, some noting of the day's importance, here where I tell my tales to any who wish to read them.
My mom has had to deal with a great many different challenges as a direct result of having given birth to me. I think she knows that I know this and greatly appreciate her efforts, but I will be certain today to be very clear in my recognition of her.
She worked miracles with me, even as she got frustrated in my few years after high school when I was battling my own demons. She did what any good mom does: she supported me without condition, and yet she also was able to draw the line where behavior becomes problematic. She still loved me then, when I was in the throes of my own challenges at 18 and 19, but she did not coddle.
Bless you, Mom! You will never know just how marvelous your contribution to my life was. Sometimes, a kick-start is just the right kind of energy.
I offer today, as my homage to all mothers of all ages and cultures, a song which offers a message I think all mothers can understand because they all offer this message, in one fashion or another, to their own progeny. It may not be a song often considered to be one which honors mothers, but if you read the lyrics (included below), it is very easy to see how mothers, given their passion for their own, and even for every other mother's children, fit perfectly as the voice of all the love in this message. They are the leaders in carrying humanity to that place where all there is, is love. After all, isn't that what mothers are? Love...love...love.
The story of how the creation of this song came about, and the global broadcast of it now more than 40 years ago, is here.
All You Need Is Love
Love, love, love.
Love, love, love.
Love, love, love.
There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Nothing you can sing that can't be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game.
It's easy.
Nothing you can make that can't be made.
No one you can save that can't be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time.
It's easy.
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.
Nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love.
All you need is love.
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together, now!)
All you need is love. (everybody!)
All you need is love, love.
Love is all you need (love is all you need).
Yee-hai!
Oh yeah!
She loves you, yeah yeah yeah.
She loves you, yeah yeah yeah.

What a great song for Mother's Day, Rick. I was there in 1967 but not paying attention to the Beatles, so it was nice to see it now. It was really fun to catch the glimpse of Mick Jagger there too. Nice! Peace and love, O
Wonderful choice. Love is all you need, indeed. Thank you!
Thanks, ladies! Glad to see you approve of the choice.
I'm happy to say that my mom was fine with it, too!
