Here's my first video upload.
As I was getting ready to tape this piece, in the back of my mind was the thought that I was having a bad hair day. It seems I took care of that problem!
So, today it is the spoken word which is my sacred life Sunday, and the word is Love.
In deference to those who have trouble seeing Blogger video, here is the exact same vlog, done via YouTube:
As my mentor, Queen O, has already done, I will also move to YouTube as the host site for any future vlogging I do.

YAY, Rick Being Brave! What a beautiful Sacred Sunday post! This is much more effective as the "spoken word" versus the written word. I was affected more by it, "got" it much easier, touched more deeply. What a beautiful description of sacred, true love, Rick.
I also like your solution to bad hair days :)
Great vlog, Rick, thank you. I hope to see many more!
Warm Winter Blessings,
O
Whoa!! Big brave step Rick! Nice to meet you. And thanks for the wonderful Sacred Sunday Message.
Thanks for encouraging me to take this step, O!
Sylvain--Kelly also encouraged me to video this, as my initial intent was to have audio only. Thanks for your kind words.
Who knows...maybe next time, I'll get my entire head in frame!
Way to go Rick! This is just great and your reading was wonderful! Now I feel like I've really 'met' you.
This is SO cool! It's great that you did this because it DOES feel like we know you a little better.
Kate, Julie--thanks a bunch for stopping by and taking a look! I'm glad that this vlog thing proved worth it--that's certainly what I am here for: getting to know people and making strong connections with the lives of the people I get to know.
Yay, I also now feel like I've met you. Thanks! Beautiful reading.
Just beautiful, husband o' mine!
I don't think your hair looked bad Sunday...oh--wait a minute--you washed it before I saw it, didn't you?!
You know, my dear Julia, I'm fairly certain we just passed a big "TMI!" road sign as we were speeding down this highway of "what the Hamricks do on Sunday morning."
I can't play it! Wah! My PC is plotting against me. I'll have to see if the IT master (aka The Hub) can set it straight.
That reminds me of The Prophet! I think I will go and read that book again...such a little gem. As are YOU!
Happy Sunday!
Lovely, lovely, all of it lovely.
Nice to see you talking!
Hi Rick,
Did you write this? Really beautiful. You have a good voice and sounded sincere. I suppose you did this with a digital video camera? Was it on a stand? It really worked well. Vlog? Never heard that term before. I just put in an audio piece on Embodied Aging. I was so proud of myself. It's fun to do some new stuff, huh?
Blessings,
Sharry
You have such a SweetHeart!
Thanks so much for your kind words, ladies!
Sphinc--I hope you have now been able to see this video, now that I posted the YouTube version!
Monique--what a flattering comparison! And humbling, I might add.
Sharry--This is a composition of my own, written a few weeks ago. At first, it was going to be put up as an audio file, but Olivia and Kelly convinced me that I should go for the gusto and read it in a video piece. It *is* fun to do new stuff, and scary a bit, too. I used my Canon Digital Elph SD1000, which is a still camera with video capability. I have a teeny tripod (it's about five inches tall!), and with that attached to the camera, I set it atop some boxes to get it to the right height. Well...almost right, except for the top inch and half of my head which will make its debut another time.
Thanks again to all of you who stopped by and were so kind to comment!
