Seven Random Things

I was tagged by Olivia (if your cable or satellite provider doesn't offer you Olivia TV, ask them to correct that omission today!) at Happy Luau to post Seven Random Things About Myself. These are the rules:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you. Check.

2. Post these rules on your blog. Check.

3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself. See below.

4. Tag seven random [?] people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. Check--see below (this collection includes a great variety of folks, all of whom I find fascinating, and all for different reasons).

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog. Check.

On with the show:
1. On a recently taken personality test, I measured both "Slightly high masculine" and "Slightly high feminine". Insert your own one-liner here on that one.

2. I am in the computer/technical-infrastructure line of work, and have been with the same company almost 20 years. Average tenure in my line of work is 22 months.

3. I have four daughters, all of whom celebrate birthdays within a five-week period of the year, and each of whom is almost exactly two years older/younger than her closest-in-age siblings. This year, they became 15, 17, 19, and 21.

4. My wife and I met on the internet ten years ago, both entranced with the romance of Kenny and Julia Loggins ("The Unimaginable Life"--if you have not read it, do!). We are still together, and we love each other as if there is no tomorrow. Kenny and Julia Loggins are no longer together.

5. My wife and I live in a modest home in southeast Denver, and we used to have a one-car garage. Now, we have a swimming pool inside that same space.

6. When my life was at a low ebb many years ago, I signed up to join the Air Force and learn computers. The recruiter told me my test scores included the lowest he had ever seen in mechanical aptitude, and the highest he had ever seen in intelligence. I still can't name any tool I am shown which is not a screwdriver or hammer (sometimes I get "wrench" right, as long as I don't have to know what kind of wrench it is).

7. I someday will conduct a symphonic orchestra in a performance of the 1812 Overture (Tchaikovsky). None of the orchestras in the world are aware of this future fact...I'm going to sneak up on one of them.

Here is my list of wonderful people, terrific writers, and bloggers extraordinaire, all of them hereby tagged:

Sunrise Sister

Julie

Ladybug

Kelly

Jane

Violet

Rebecca

Love reading your list, Rick. You hold fast onto that conducting dream -- you never know when the chance will come true! I had a lifelong dream of performing in a symphony despite the fact that I play NO musical instruments. Several years ago I got to play percussion (the typewriter!) in a John Cage piece with the Rainier Symphony. One of the highlights of my life!

Rick, I take it as a high compliment to be "tagged", however I already did this one. You may go search out my list on my blog if you so desire! Or not! ;-)It must be coming full circle!

Carla--thanks for the encouragement! This is a dream I have had for many years, and I have no doubt that the opportunity will present itself to me in a way and at a time that I least expect.

Lynn--Fortunately, nowhere in the rules does it say anything about policing the people you tag. So, you are off the hook. I'm sure there will be lots of people getting tagged more than once, and I love that you consider it a compliment!

even though you won't tell the orchestra that you're coming...do let US know so we can be there :)

Wow. Isn't it amazing the things we find out? Great list and Tchaikosky (sp?) is my favorite.
