After spending a good bit of my summer in Denver wishing for cloud cover to break the heat of the sun beating down unmercifully I am sheepish to offer up that very same sun today as my focus for the sacred in my day.
We are all very happy to see the sun today, and to have it doing its job very well. It is the warmest day here in several days--days with almost no sun at all, and plenty of wind and rain--and the forecast calls for days in the 70's most of our remaining time here. We load up the van and head out for the two-day trek across middle America Saturday morning.
I have no difficulty today understanding the sun worship of ancient times, although I would not have said the same thing back in July.
That's my shadow pictured at the top of this entry, brought into sight by our Sol, our light, our reason for even being here on the planet, all of us living things, when you get right down to it. For today, I'm very grateful for the sun.

Here in the Pacific Northwest I haven't seen the sun for a few days and I'm missing it so.
It seems that there are many things that we don't miss until they're gone.
