The majestic inland sea (My Sacred Life, day 19)
This time we have away from "real life" is proving to be a real boon for us. We have no TV and have not even listened to much music, although we have it available. Instead, we have the steady rhythm of the waves--the heartbeat of the lake--rolling onto the beach, the sometimes-imposing roar-or-whisper of the wind, and the sounds of the various creatures in the vicinity (when the wind allows them to be heard) which feed our ears.
We're discovering that, when there are fewer distractions, you can do spontaneous stuff such as rushing outside to see a particularly cool cloud formation, or to see waves crashing into the lighthouse which is a mile away (that's today's photo, taken during quite high winds and surf, shortly before sunset last night). In fact, we were eating dinner last night when Julia's dad called, and said, "Get outside now! The cloud formation is amazing!!"
So, we dropped our forks, grabbed the camera, and ran outside.
It's what you do when that's your excitement, you know? And, it's the perfect level of excitement...just what we came here to rediscover.

sounds like a little slice of heaven! Happy Wednesday ;))
How beautiful this is! I am wishing i was out on a boat right now, the sound of the waves being my music....how sweet that is!! Enjoy it and have a great time, and thanks for checking out my blog too. Look forward to reading mor of yours!
Peace.
this photograph looks just like a painting..it's so beautiful!
Jane, Lina--thanks for stopping by!
Kate--this shot was taken at the max zoom of 12X for my teeny little Canon Digital Elph (about the size of a deck of cards). I have noticed before that the pictures taken at max zoom have a sort of ethereal quality about them--even looking painted--and I was hoping for that feel when I was taking pictures last night. As luck would have it, the sun broke through and shined on the lighthouse as I was taking pictures! As you can tell, I had great fun being in the right place at the right time, and with a camera in my hands.
Thanks for your comment!
ah, the music of the ocean!! i've been enjoying the music of silence with the kids being back at school...
you're so right, though, we full our senses of so much senseless STUFF...
