All that cynicism and world-weariness,
the many layers of grime we accumulate over decades here on Earth,
falls away when we awaken with fresh eyes.
New perspective, sensitivity restored
New, empty vessels ready to experience awe
New vision cleared of old worn-out expectations
Opening our hearts to a new day in a new way
Offers us a rebirth to simply being with rather than interpreting,
Allowing us to see with no filters and no preconceptions
As a child would, just like a baby
We can be awed by the simplest and most-common sight
Because we are seeing it as if brand new
And enjoying it as if for the first time.
It is.
It is the first time we have lived this day.

A good way to look at it. I try to keep an open mind to the possibilities of every day. It certainly makes life more comfortable, doesn't it?
Hmmm...this is evocative and lovely, Rick. Indeed, it is the first time we have lived THIS day.
I like this poem as well, Rick. What a great way to start a new day. I am sitting here in my morning quiet time and there is (believe it or not, I can't) some sun---just a little bit---and your poem feels like a beautiful way to start the Sabbath. Blessings and love and sacredness, O
Lyn--yes, it makes life better in all kinds of ways, not to mention more precious.
Lisa, thanks for stopping by and sharing a little of your day.
O (I almost wrote 'Livia just to stay with the ladies whose names start with "L"), early mornings are my sanctuary, Sabbath or not. I love the sacred time each day when it is only my own spirit choosing what I do. Like today!
Thanks again, my friends, for communing with me.
Beautiful. Often I forget the truth of this, but when I remember, the remembering comes on me so completely, I'm overcome.
Thanks so much, Kelly.
I agree with you. When I lose track of the appreciation at hand and become embroiled in some very important thing in my little human existence, it comes back to me with great impact when I remember.
